Bonnie's Pledge Page - Seattle 3-Day 2006
Oops, I'm doing it again! Yes, the person who said 'Never again' is once again walking. I'm now few years older than when I first walked, with more aches and pains ... but my pain is nothing compared to the pain I see watching my dear friend Tracy go through chemo for breast cancer. Or learning of the death of yet another's sister from this disease. Or holding my mother's hand as she bravely lost her fight with cancer this summer. We are so close to finding a cure and if walking another 60 miles can make the difference ... then that's what I'm going to do!
This year, 40,000 American women and men will lose their battle with breast cancer, leaving 40,000 families to pick up the pieces. Having gone through it personally (the picking up the pieces, I mean) - it's no fun. And I want to do everything within my power to try and prevent other people from losing those they love. So I'm walking 60 miles. In 3 days. Sleeping in a tent at night. And probably walking over 700 miles in preparation for the event. And I need to raise at least $2200 to participate. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. I know it's a lot of money, but every little bit will add up. Research and support do not happen in a vacuum. It takes real money to continue the search for answers while supporting those in need right now. I appreciate whatever you can do to help me achieve my fundraising goal. I will carry the names of my donors with me, so you will walk each of the 60 miles with me!! You can make your tax deductible donation online at www.the3day.org Click on Donate (at the top of the page), choose Seattle, and follow the directions to pledge online with either your credit or debit card. They even allow monthly payments, which gives you an opportunity to donate more over time. Or if you would prefer, you can simply mail a check to me (made payable to Breast Cancer 3-Day) and I’ll take care of the paperwork for you. Whatever method you choose, I appreciate whatever you give. There are literally millions of people out there that need your support. You have the unique opportunity to be their hero. And if you're not in a position to help out financially right now - I understand that. But I hope I can count on you to 'cheer me on' so to speak - this fat old lady needs all the encouragement she can get! |
